यदि मैं वैज्ञानिक होता
(४) विशिष्ट सेवा ( ५ ) मेरा आदर्श (६) उपसंहार । ] आज का युग विज्ञान का युग है। जीवन के हर क्षेत्र में विज्ञान का बोलबाला है। जब मैं अपने चारों तरफ विज्ञान के अनोखे करिश्मे देखता हूँ तो मेरे मन में यह भावना उत्पन्न होती है, काश! मैं भी वैज्ञानिक होता !
वैज्ञानिक होना कोई मामूली बात नहीं है। इसके लिए वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण और विज्ञान की ऊँची शिक्षा प्राप्त करना जरूरी है। सर्वप्रथम विज्ञान में ऊँची डिग्री लेकर मैं अपनी प्रयोगशाला बनाता। अपनी प्रयोगशाला में मैं उन चीजों के बारें में संशोधन कार्य करता, जिनकी हमारे देश को जरूरत है। हमारा देश अन्य देशों की अपेक्षा अब भी कई बातों में बहुत पिछड़ा हुआ है। उसे सस्ती लेकिन कारगर मशीनों, दवाइयों, खेती के लिए नए-नए औजारों आदि की जरूरत है। बाहर से आनेवाली चीजें इतनी महँगी हैं कि साधारण आदमी उन्हें खरीद नहीं सकता। यदि मैं वैज्ञानिक होता तो मेरा यही प्रयत्न रहता कि सभी चीजें देश में ही बने और सब लोग उनका आसानी से लाभ उठा सकें।
वैज्ञानिक बनकर मैं यह खोजने में लग जाता कि समुद्र का जल पेय जल कैसे बने, समुद्री जल से विद्युत कैसे बनाई जाए, सूर्य की गर्मी से सस्ती ऊर्जा कैसे प्राप्त की जाए। इसके साथ ही मैं कॅन्सर का सफल इलाज खोज निकालने की पूरी कोशिश करता। जब मैं कॅन्सर से पीड़ित रोगियों को देखता हूँ तो यही सोचता हूँ कि काश! इस रावण को मारने के लिए कोई रामबाण दवा मैं खोज सकूँ ! एक वैज्ञानिक के रूप में मैं वैज्ञानिक संगठनों की स्थापना करता। आम जनता में विज्ञान के प्रति समझदारी और अभिरुचि बढ़ाने के लिए मैं प्रदर्शनी और चर्चा-सभाओं का आयोजन करता । विज्ञान के अध्ययन को प्रोत्साहन देने के लिए मैं हर संभव प्रयत्न करता। मैं नवयुवकों की बुद्धि और शक्ति का सदुपयोग करता और उन्हें वैज्ञानिक बनने की प्रेरणा देता।
एक वैज्ञानिक के रूप में मुझे चाहे जितनी भी सफलता मिलती, लेकिन मैं यह कभी नहीं भूलता कि मैं सबसे पहले एक मनुष्य हूँ, फिर वैज्ञानिक। मेरी खोजें सारी मानवता के हित के लिए होतीं। आज जैसे मार्कोनी, न्यूटन, मैडम क्यूरी, लुई पाश्चर आदि के आविष्कारों का लाभ सारा संसार उठा रहा है, वैसे ही अपनी खोजों द्वारा दुनियां को खुशहाल होती देखकर मैं फूला नहीं समाता। कितना अच्छा हो यदि मैं वैज्ञानिक बन पाऊँ !
